Last night I was lucky enough to attend a launch party held by the acclaimed designer Henry Holland. Holland, who shot who shot to fame with his slogan tees has teamed up with Roxy Heart to create a skiwear collection.

The collection was inspired by Holland and Roxy’s shared love of music, fashion and snowboarding. The range consists of 15-pieces of sportswear, fashion pieces and accessories and is “designed to take you seamlessly from the slopes to the chalet”.

Colours are vibrant with heart and stud detailing and quilted leather highlights. Key pieces include a stud zippered snowboard jacket, a leather quilted pencil skirt and a mohair cardigan with heart detailing.

I have my eye on the quilted leather skirt and grandad cardie with hearts!

Check out the range as its fab!

Matthew Williamson's S/S 2011 collection

Day 3 of LFW and i was lucky enough to attend the Matthew Williamson show. And WOW! What a setting. It was held in the derelict Battersea Power Station- in fact Williamson is the first designer to ever hold a show here. In the front row sat Sienna Miller (he turned up at her show earlier in the week so it’s only fair she returned the favour) , Olivia Palermo and Cat Deeley.

As you would expect from the designer there was plenty of eye popping colour and jewelled party dresses.

The idea behind Williamson’s collection was a runaway urban girl who ends up at sea and then – with her entire wardrobe still intact ends up shipwrecked on a desert island. With this in mind there were sun-bleached silk dresses with parachute silk drawstrings, and mini dresses were fringed in raffia, tied around the body in luxurious crochets and beaded to match.

A big influence seemed to come form the Seventies with high waisted wide legged trousers and pleated shorts that came with skinny striped knits, while a leopard print jacket came above a shift dress with the same print.

Fringing was also a big look on everything from bags to tan and khaki tunic dresses.

All in all this is one collection I would want in my summer wardrobe next year!

The fashion bus has now departed the Big Apple and hit our shores in London. The event kicked off as always with Paul Costelloe showcasing his spring/summer 2011 collection. The womenswear focused on short flirty dresses, with hems hiked up to mid-thigh, and worn with metallic biker-jackets and vests. The Irish designer used pastel shades namely sugar pinks, and navy fused into abstract checks.

Costelloe introduced menswear last September and that was a major part of the show. This time it was a family affair though as his six sons came out together modeling some of the designers suits.

This collection seemed to be a much younger, sexier collection than Costelloe has previously showcased.

New York Fashion Week, Spring 11′ has officially kicked off today at the Lincoln Center. Victoria Beckham was spotted in Manhattan ahead of her preperations to unveil her spring collection. She was wearing a bright green Goat jumper dress (ticking the box for a British designer and the bold colour trend) with Brian Atwood shoes.

Fashion Week was officially opened by the New York Mayor and Diane Von Furstenburg- who showcases her collection on Sunday.

Then the party packs up and head to London- when London Fashion Week opens with Paul Costelloe on Friday 17th September. Yay!!

I’ll be attending some of the shows and cannot wait to let you know about the trends to wear for next Spring/Summer 2011. And of course we have more coverage of the fashion weeks (New York, London, Paris and Milan) across the site.

A sister site, The Outnet, is already a firm favourite with bargain hunting fashion fans, and now it has been revealed that the men are going to get a look in too – Mr Porter is set to launch next year.

The brand new men’s site will go online in January 2011 and will, of course, offer up the most coveted brands around. Everyone from Burberry and YSL to Rick Owens and Margaret Howell is on the stockist list.

Looks from Anna Lee, Thomas Crisp and Rhea Fields.

Last night Italian designer, Alberta Ferretti, selected the final winners of the 2010 Graduate Fashion Week Gala. Amongst fashion stars of the future were celebs including Nicola Roberts, Erin O’Connor, Rachel Stevens and Barbara Hulaniki.

The £20,000 River Island Gold Award was presented to Rebecca Thomson of Manchester University School of Art for best student collection.

The 22 -year- old based her collection on the classic white shirt, re-styled with giant, striped and polka-dot bow-ties, lace bib-collars, and skirts with cascading pleats in a palette of white, pale dove grey, soft peach and black.

Rhea Fields, of Northbrook College Surrey, took home the womenswear award for her strong and contemporary collection. Thomas Crisp’s (Ravensbourne) rock star-ready range won the menswear award.

Anna Lee of De Montfort University won the Zandra Rhodes Catwalk Textiles prize, while the BHM Knitwear Visionary Award went to Ledina Zhang of Northumbria University. Roya Hesam, from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute received the International award.

So another year and another great showcase of Britain’s fashion designing talent.

Personally I can’t wait to see what’s on offer next year….

Bumni Olaye's collection for Graduate Fashion Week

Graduate Fashion Week kicked off today at Earls Court 2. It’s the UK’s largest showcase of young fashion talent, which stages a static exhibition displaying the work of some 50 universities across 52 courses – plus approximately 22 university fashion shows – each June.

I have to say the openeing day did not disappoint. There were a stunning array of innovative designs with the University Of East London opening the event.I particulaly liked graduate Jennifer Bourne’s creations which included elegant draped dresses in soft jersey with rich embellished shoulders.

Rich evening wear was showcased by Jane Branco- silk jersey dresses in nude and ice cream shades billowed down the catwalk.

But my favourite has to go to Bunmi Olaye’s warrior-like woman collection (pictured above). Iinspired by the mysterious, men-only Leopard Masquerade cult of the Efik tribe in the Nigerian province of Calabar, mixed with references to the high-collars, tight waists and voluminous sleeves of the Victorian era The look plays with proportions, gorgeous colours, vibrant prints with strong shoulders and enhanced waists.

And it seems this designer is already mixing in the right circles. Last year she established her own label which now has a celebrity client list which includes Mel B, Mischa Barton, Alesha Dixon and Estell.

Definately one to watch!

The University Of Central Lancashire’s graduate show had one designer that really stood out for me- Sara Wadsworth (pictured above).

She showcased chiffon tunics and kaftans, printed with Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. Other dresses were printed with the Union flag, or Union Jack, in shades of sage, navy and yellow, all over yellow bra tops and sports-shorts.

A penguin, a drummer boy and a monkey were the prints on display on Jessica Thompson’s dresses, skirts and crop tops bringing a cheeky feel to the collection.

And also worth a mention is Sara Zadeh’s designs. She sent her models down the runway in pink, coral and black crochet maxi dresses over the top of tight body con style floral dresses.

Graduate Fashion Week continues until Wednesday night with a Gala show at which the winners of the Best Menswear, Best Womenswear and the River Island £20,000 Gold Award will be announced.

Last night anybody who’s anybody in the world of fashion and movie’s attended the 2010 Costume Institute gala (or the Met Ball to you and I) in New York.

This year’s theme and that of the accompanying exhibition was The American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity. American femmes – from Sarah Jessica Parker, Brooke Shields and Oprah Winfrey to January Jones, Katy Perry, Kirsten Dunst, Chloe Sevigny, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Claire Danes graced the red carpet.

There were plenty of international women also joining in - including co-host Anna Wintour, Gisele Bundchen, Naomi Campbell, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Emma Watson, Carey Mulligan, Donatella Versace, Marion Cotillard and Diane Kruger – and Sienna Miller even stepped out officially with Jude Law for the first time since they reunited.

So what about the outfits on the night? Well white and metallic gowns were in abundance with one dress that actually lit up! (Katy Perry’s).

Quirky British style was very much in evidence. While most of the guests opted for floor-length evening gowns, the Bafta winning actress, Carey Mulligan wore a lilac mini-dress. And Alexa Chung decided to stick with her (yawn) tomboy look and wore a tuxedo and braces.

According to the rumour mill, Victoria Beckham will be designing a collection of stage outfits for Beyonce’s next tour. The Queen of R&B is said to be impressed with Victoria’s elegant, ladylike collections, and has asked the former Spice Girl to design a range of costumes and create her a new, sophisticated on-stage look.

In the past designers such as Giorgio Armani, Donatella Versace and Thierry Mugler have created Beyonce’s stage outfits, which are usually glamorous and skimpy.
The dresses are expected to make their stage debut later this year when Beyoncé plays a series of concerts across the US.

I can’t wait to see the results. What about you? What do you think Victoria will create for the singer?
