Juliette Binoche stars in the Abbas Kiarostami directed drama, Copie Conforme, which tells the story of a middle-aged English writer and his relationship with a young French woman.

Juliette explains that her character, Elle, spends much of film ‘trying to find something in the man’ – and also explains how she was able to really understand her character by being able to watch the film on a mocked-up DVD before it was made.

Juliette also tells us how important she thinks French cinema is in bringing a diversity to world cinema – and explains about the broad spectrum of people she has worked with.

And has the festival gone well for Juliette, well, she says that Cannes is like wine – some years it’s good, other years it’s bad..

Julien Plante of Cinemoi takes us around this year’s Cannes Film Festival, promising to bring us all the stars, glamour and news from the festival.

In an exclusive interview, Artistic Director of Cannes, Thierry Fremaux explains how the jury process works and what their responsibilities are – as well as explaining what a great pleasure it is to be so involved with the festival, even though at times he admits it can be very difficult.

This year’s jury includes Tim Burton and Kate Beckinsale – who at this year’s press conference explained how being involved in the festival is an excellent opportunity to see what’s happening in the world of cinema.

As much as it’s renowned for it’s celebration and showcase of new cinema, Cannes is equally well known for it’s star studded red carpets, and this year’s opening ceremony did not disappoint – with the likes of Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett and Salma Hayek. To read more about red carpet fashion check out The Sharpener.

We also meet Jean Roche, the owner of VIP Room, which is the party to be seen at every night during the festival. Jean tells us how his nights attract all different kinds of celebrities – from actors, to singers and everyone in between.

Now that the Cannes Film Festival is in full swing – the tension is mounting as to which films will be declared a hit…and which be deemed a miss.

We join Cinemoi’s Julien Plante to learn a little bit more about Cannes – Croisette style. Firstly we head to a private showroom – where all the stars go to be made beautiful! With rails and rails of must-have designer goods, it’s no surprise that the leading ladies have been looking quite so glamorous this festival…

Director of Tournee, Mathieu Amalric takes some time out of his busy festival schedule to talk to Cinemoi about his film which explores ‘new burlesque’ – as well as two of the film’s stars.

We also meet actress and model, Liya Kebede who tells that she has always wondered what Cannes is like…and she’s clearly taken to it like a natural, as she works the red carpet like a pro!

And finally, we round off our day with a trip to Vip Room for one of their notorious parties…!

In an exclusive interview with Editor Les Cahiers du Cinema Charlotte Garson, she sings the praises of both Penelope Cruz’s outstanding performance and the impeccable standard of her work with Pedro Almodovar in ‘Broken Embraces’ – which was one of the most highly anticipated films of the festival.
