No music aficionado’s Friday night is complete without a session in front of ‘Later with Jools Holland’ – a show which has run consecutively since 1992 and has captured memorable performances from everyone who is anyone in music – from Metallica to Al Green and Grace Jones.

this is a really good list – there have been so many good performances that it makes it hard to condense into a top 10 but among the ones i’d personally like to see in the list are:
raul midon – state of mind (for the mouth trumpet solo)
scott matthews – dream song
radiohead – airbag or go to sleep for jonny’s crazy solos
cherry ghost – people help the people
i think yeasayer’s 2080 made more of an impact than sunrise for me as well. and al green’s let’s stay together can’t be ignored. laura marling, rufus wainwright, kt tunstall (black horse and the cherry tree), vampire weekend, feist and damien rice certainly have some brilliant performances between them as well. spoilt for choice really
