Mercury Prize Shortlist Roundup

The Mercury Prize shortlist is generally notable for recognizing what the mainstream press like to call “leftfield” artists. This is an interesting concept, and should come as no surprise really, as the Mercury Prize was created as an alternative to the more commercially minded Brit Awards. Apparent nonentities like record sales and radio play theoretically do not even come into the judges reckoning.

iTunes Genius feature is (almost) genius

When I first downloaded the new iTunes update I discovered with marked distaste that it included a new feature that created a playlist of songs from your iTunes library. Apple even had the nerve to call it Genius, which is generally not a word that I would bandy about the place lightly.
As sad a story as it is, I happen to be a person that prides himself on creating handcrafted... -
8. TV on the Radio ‘Dancing Choose’

This one starts off a bit shaky, as I guess lead singer Tunde Adebimpe isn’t exactly a rapper, but it just gets better and better as the song goes on. Dancing Choose perfectly demonstrates the genre-defying sound of TV on the Radio - fusing everything from electro to free jazz and a hearty portion of soul; spitting enough lyrics to satisfy any hip hop fan.
