    If the security measures of corner shops in Elephant and Castle are anything to go by, we are living in dangerous times. Queuing up to receive goods from a tiny aperture in the chain links of a shutter feels slightly Soviet, except the items being dispensed are cigarettes and cans of lager rather than bread and copies of Pravda.
